Zombie Powder + Zombie Breath Turkey Smash Tacos

Prep: 10 minutes | Cook: 15 minutes | Servings: 4 (8 tacos)

These tacos are what happens when a turkey burger meets taco night and nobody wants to wash three pans.

Zombie Breath builds the garlic-onion foundation in the meat. Zombie Powder contributes sweet heat and a little smoky character. Pressing the seasoned turkey directly onto tortillas creates crisp edges and plenty of flavor in a hurry.

Ingredients

Tacos

  • 1 lb ground turkey, preferably 93% lean
  • 8 small flour tortillas, approximately 5 to 6 inches
  • 1½ tsp Zombie Breath
  • 1 tsp Zombie Powder
  • 1 tbsp neutral cooking oil, divided
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup finely diced red onion
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Quick lime sauce

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp water, plus more as needed
  • 1 tsp honey, optional

Directions

  1. Make the sauce. Mix yogurt, lime juice, water and optional honey until spoonable. Refrigerate while you prepare the tacos.
  2. Season the turkey. In a bowl, gently combine turkey with Zombie Breath and Zombie Powder. Divide into eight equal portions.
  3. Build the tacos. Spread each turkey portion thinly over one side of a tortilla, pressing it almost to the edges. Use approximately 2 oz turkey per tortilla. Wash your hands and sanitize any surface that contacted raw poultry.
  4. Heat the skillet. Heat a large nonstick or well-seasoned skillet over medium-high heat with a little of the oil.
  5. Cook meat-side down. Place one or two tortillas in the pan with the turkey against the hot surface. Press gently with a spatula. Cook approximately 3 to 4 minutes, adjusting heat to avoid burning.
  6. Flip and finish. Turn each taco and cook the tortilla side until lightly crisp and the turkey has reached 165°F internally. The total time depends on turkey thickness and skillet temperature.
  7. Serve. Add cabbage, tomato, red onion and lime sauce. Finish with lime juice.

Make it work for your kitchen

Use a thin, even turkey layer so it cooks consistently. If the tortilla browns too quickly, reduce the heat and continue until the turkey reaches its safe temperature.

For a dairy-free sauce, substitute a dairy-free yogurt that works for your household or use mashed avocado and lime.

Why these blends work together

Zombie Breath supplies the savory aromatic base. Zombie Powder gives the browned turkey a sweet-to-heat finish without requiring a complicated taco seasoning.

Both blends are in the meat mixture, and both contribute to the finished recipe.

Grillslayer move: Set out the toppings before the skillet heats up. These cook quickly and taste best immediately.
