A full refrigerator can feel strangely unhelpful at the end of a long day. The vegetables have to be washed, the protein needs thawing, and every possible meal seems to require one ingredient you do not have.
The problem may be decision fatigue rather than a lack of food. Simplify the assignment. Pick one ingredient that needs using, one cooking method, and one flavor direction. Roasting a few vegetables while rice cooks is a perfectly legitimate beginning.
What it means in practice
This is where keeping useful blends on hand earns its place in the pantry. The cook can choose garlic-forward, smoky, sweet-to-heat or another direction without rebuilding a sauce from scratch.
You do not have to love every moment of cooking to make dinner well. Sometimes the best plan is the one you can start before you talk yourself out of it.
