A roadside meal may not win a competition for technical perfection. It might still be the one you remember from a trip. You had been driving for hours, the weather had changed, and someone recommended a small place you would never have found on your own.
Travel makes food inseparable from circumstance. Hunger, people, place and timing all influence how a meal lands. That does not make the flavor imaginary. It makes the experience bigger than the plate.
What we take from it
We find that idea especially compelling at ZSR. Food gives us a reason to explore how people live and work. We can learn about an unfamiliar ingredient without pretending to understand an entire community after one meal.
Eat with curiosity, ask respectful questions and remember the people who fed you. The story worth bringing home may be something nobody put on the menu.
