Black gloves have become a recognizable costume in food media. Sometimes they are sensible protective equipment. Sometimes they seem to appear because the video needs to announce that very serious meat cooking is underway.
We are interested in the food and the person making it. How did the cook learn to manage the fire? Who is coming over? What is the plan if the weather changes? Those details tell us more than another dramatic camera angle over a cutting board.
The useful part
At ZSR, we love bold branding and a little theater. We also know when a routine has been repeated until it stops communicating anything. A beautiful cut of meat does not need a manufactured reaction to convince people it was worth the effort.
Cook carefully, use safe techniques and show the work when it teaches something. Then make room for the friends waiting to eat. The best scene may be what happens at the table.
